Regional Membrane Water Treatment Facility Optimization

Regional Membrane Water Treatment Facility Optimization

WT Infrastructure was retained by the Township of South Stormont to complete an assessment of the potential to upgrade the existing South Stormont Regional Water Treatment Plant to meet future system demands. This was initiated based on an uncommitted reserve capacity study that identified the Township had capacity for less than 20 additional units in the system. Our team evaluated the capacity of the system and any bottlenecks that may exist to prevent system expansion. It was identified that the original design allowed for up to 67% capacity expansion without major capital upgrades through the changing of pumps and addition of more membrane modules. The outcome of the project was the recommendation to proceed to complete a Schedule C Class EA to expand the plant to facilitate the increase in reserve capacity. This will be proceeding in 2023.
